Lies!

What lies are you hearing and believing?

Untruths that are believed can be devastating!

John 8:44... the devil, ...he was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 Peter 5:8...Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

The little girl, raised in an abusive home, heard many lies about herself...and believed. Once married, the young woman believed it must be true when her husband told her she was a loser and never good enough to please him.

.........And, the enemy gloated....tapping his toxic fingertips together...smiling a satisfied smile of venomous success.

But, what happens when we stop internalizing those "secret" lies, bring them out of the dark, and place them in the light of truth? What if, for a week, we write down each lie that creeps into our thoughts, and put it on paper, before it tucks itself away in our hearts? What if we ask God to give us His TRUTH -- His light, to shine into that darkness? What if...?

And so, in just the past 12 hours, God has shown me some of these lies that try to darken my heart, and he has shined the bright light of his Holy Spirit -- like 10,000 suns into my heart, and exposed them to His truth!

Lie: You are a fatherless orphan!

TRUTH:
  • John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans;I will come to you.

  • 2 Cor. 4: 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

  • Psalm 27:10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in.

  • Psalm 10:14 ...you have been the helper of the fatherless.

  • Ephesians 1:5 ... he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will...

  • 2 Cor. 6:18 ... and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me,says the Lord Almighty."

  • Job 29:12...because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him.

Lie: You are a loser.

TRUTH:

  • 2 Cor. 4:9 ...persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

  • Psalm 139: 13 - 16 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.16Your eyes saw my unformed substance;in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

  • 2 Cor. 5:21 ... For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

  • 1 Cor. 3:16 ...16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

  • John 1:12 ...12But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Lie: You better run and hide, cause I'm coming to get you!

TRUTH:

  • 1 Samuel 25:29 Even when you are chased by those who seek to kill you, your life is safe in the care of the Lord your God, secure in his treasure pouch.
  • Psalm 32:7 You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
  • Psalm 17:8 ...hide me in the shadow of your wings
  • Psalm 119:114 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.

There is no "truth" in being a victim....in hiding in the lies.

  1. Hey girl! This is soo good! Thank you so much for sharing!!! I definately have believed tons of lies in the past! God is just now showing me and helping me realize this! I am getting to know God more and therefore knowing what is Truth and what is not.
The lies I tend to believe are that I am horrible, dumb, stupid, suck, not worth anything, don't deserve anything. And of course as God's child, He loves us and sees us as perfect through His son.
Ton's of fear of man stuff-like what would that person think if you did that, or you can't pray that over them because what if it doesn't work... blah!
I am trying so hard to stop listening!
    Thanks again for sharing!

  2. Thanks T!
These are good daily reminders of what scriptures to cling too when we subtly allow the lies to creep back in..

    *Lie:
    "You'll never make it."

    *Truth:
    2 Timothy 1:7~
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
